When i say what inspires me to paint women and people who identify themselves as women, i always mention real people i see and meet.
But is it their faces and bodies and the outer shell that inspires me? I won’t say that’s the whole truth.
Because it’s the essence of their existence that makes them interesting to me.
It’s the way their hands move, how they get surprised or shocked or happy or sad, or how they don’t care sometimes. How they pretend or fail to pretend.
It’s how they are unaware of their little imperfections that make them seem the way they are. It’s the glitch in every people
That makes me paint them. I start with an impression but then the characters take their own shape, coz even though they are my creation, they have their own story to tell. And I shouldn’t limit that.
For example i have no idea why she ended up looking so mischievous and seems she is up to something, and we are not allowed to know that! And if we try, she knows how to camouflage the details.
