Did you know the only other art form that i ever learnt was dance? And my first ever dance performance (when i was a kid) was on a song named “Badol baul”, written by Rabindranath Thakur.
A song which described the a particular baul ( you can read about bauls on internet if you are interested in learning more about them, i can guarantee you that it will be fascinating to know more about them. Their lives and their philosophy , and of course their music.)
I was fascinated by the song and the feeling of liberation it gave me.
The peace in roaming around in a village, resting under trees, and creating magic with words and music while you search for a certain kind of peace which is tough to be described in words.
I always wanted to paint “badal baul” like how i imagine him! And i did!
His embroidered and patchworked gown is like the sky under which he roams, just like his name, which means the clouds with his music instruments !♥️
Sometimes i feel i could be as free as their souls are!
Also you see the influence of their patchwork dresses as backgrounds in so many paintings i do!
Ps. The song i am adding to this art is not the song i spoke about in my caption! But i love both of them, and do listen or read about the kind of songs and philosophy they speak about!
